2005 GoldRushFine Peruvian Horses

Harrison and his late wife, Charlotte McDonald, purchased their first Peruvian in 1978 in order for Charlotte to continue riding after an auto accident made riding a trotting horse impossible.  Charlotte’s research into the breed lead her to the bloodlines produced by the great sire, Sol de Oro (V), a horse recognized as the foundation sire of the modern Peruvian Horse.  Although the horses were originally purchased for Charlotte, Harrison was soon caught up in the excitement of showing – and winning – with the Peruvian Horse.

In 1984, Harrison purchased property in Anderson County Texas and Silver Creek Ranch was born.  For over 20 years, Harrison and Charlotte worked together with their team of trainers and riders to carve an extraordinary show record into the record books in America.  Beginning in 1990 and continuing through 2007, Silver Creek Ranch has won national awards in every division.

U.S. National Show wins include:

2 Best Bozal Horse of Show

3 Best Gaited Horse of Show

14 Champion of Champion Titles

11 Championships

2 Laureado Awards

U.S. National High Point Awards include:

15 Harry Bennett Awards

1 Hall of Fame Award

2 Medallion de Plata Awards

10 times U.S. National High Point Breeder (based on points accumulated at the national show by horses entered in the show)

Peruvian Digest Peruvian Horse Futurity Awards include:

2003     Champion of Champion Breeding Mare

2003     Grand Champion Breeding Sire

2005     Best Gaited Horse of Show

2005     Champion of Champion Breeding Mare

2005     Champion of Champion Breeding Stallion

2005     Champion of Champion Luxury Gelding

2005     Grand Champion Breeding Sire

Our herd sire, MCD Casanova, tops the list of Top Ten Sires based on the winning record of his progeny at the U.S. National Shows.  He was also the Top Sire of the U.S. National Show in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 (the last year Silver Creek Ranch attended the National Show).

The truth is, no matter how much we enjoy winning at the shows, the real test of the Silver Creek Ranch breeding program is the success of our horses in the hands of their new owners.  Many have enjoyed winning in national and regional shows in the U.S. and Canada, and participating in NATRC events, parades, clinics, pleasure riding, and other competitions, proving that a horse bred to be smooth, strong, and sane can compete anywhere.
